Downward Spiral

(trying to work on Karen Kahle's spiral chair pad)

It's been so long since my last post that I'm not sure I know how to post anymore!  In any event, in the meantime, blogger has changed the posting format.  That shouldn't surprise me!  I've been gone for such a long time.  It first started with some extremely challenging weeks in my classroom.  My energy was drained each day to the point of no return.  I sometimes wish I had an education blog...the stories I could tell! LOL

I was very, very much looking forward to my spring vacation.  But, life often has other plans.

My mother's breast cancer came back in March and took a dramatic turn for the worse a week and a half ago.  After a full round of radiation to try and buy her some time, she ended up with a complication which was not repairable.  My brother and I are both teachers, so we spent the better part of the last week at her side as she began to make her transition to be with God.  She is still fighting the good fight, but her time is limited, and it's just a waiting game.  To say that we are numb and exhausted is really an understatement.  It's awful to be in this state of limbo--where you know the outcome, but await God's grace to take away her pain.

I'll leave you with a few pictures of my mother's paintings.

Prayers are most welcome.

Dear Courtney, there is little that I can say that would give you comfort right now but I' am so glad that you are sharing your burden with us.

I'm so sorry that your mom is now in palliative care awaiting the end of her earthly journey but my faith gives me strength and I believe in God's grace.

You can depend on me, I will hold you, your mom and all your family in my prayers.

Thanks for sharing her beautiful paintings with us.
I've missed you on Blogger but I understand.
Hugs & prayers

Oh, I'm so sorry. Saying prayers for you, your brother, and your dear mom.
What grade do you teach again? I know what you mean about exhausting school years. Last year mine was VERY draining. This year has been a big improvement!
Take care, dear one.

I will be praying for you. After going through that I know how hard it is to let go. You know the other morning, Friday, I was out in my garden and I was praying, when out of the blue came the message to pray for Courtney. So I have. I love it when that happens. I have missed you so much.
I will keep you before the throne.
Hugs from me to you.

Oh Courtney I'm saddened by the prognosis of your mother's cancer; it wasn't very long ago that I was in your seat. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Try to remember that when a ship leaves the port and heads toward the horizon, you may not be able to see it but the ship is still there. The spirit and memory of your mother will always remain with you. Her paintings are beautiful.

Your circular mat is turning out wonderfully, btw.

Sending prayers and well wishes. Your mother is so fortunate to have your loving presence. And, she was blessed with GREAT talent. To have lived a full life is a blessing, but so difficult for those left behind. I still have conversations with my Mom who passed away in 2006.

And prayers are yours. I prayed for peace both for your mom and for those of you who love her. I prayed for a quick release so that you can rejoice that she is in His presence and outside the physical body that is in pain. I also prayed that someone will come to know Jesus because of this time of suffering.

Blessings, Debbie

Your mothers paintings are beautiful. I learned to hook when my mother was in the hospital for the last month of her life. It was a relief to hook then and still is. Prayers for you and your family.
