A Finish and a Swap

I've been away for too long.  What a week it's been!  If I told you all about the last week, you wouldn't even believe me.  So, I have to opt for the tame stuff!  Thank goodness for  rug hooking...it keeps me sane!

I've finished my Magdalena Dog rug!  What a fun pattern this was.  Believe it or not, I really stretched my boundaries on this one.  I just wanted to play with texture and color and see what would happen.  Couldn't be happier!
Now, I have two rugs to steam and bind, but I'm looking forward to the process!

I went off to my first rug guild meeting last weekend.  I think I'm going to like it there.  Everyone was so welcoming.  They had an auction.  Everyone brought stuff from their stash and we bid on the goodies.  I got a lot of good wool textures for over dyeing.  I brought some brighter wool that I wasn't using, plus a pattern or two that I'd picked up at flea markets.   I was happy to have them go off with some decent bids!  I may have agreed to be nominated for treasurer.  Crazy, I know, but I will get to know people fast this way...so I'm happy if it works out.

Next weekend, I'm off to another hook in.  This one is the Regional ATHA hook-in in Massachusetts.  I'm really looking forward to going.  It's always nice to be with folks who like to talk about wool, color, strip size, and binding techniques.  Speaking of binding techniques.  Have you checked out Karen Kahle's new blog?  It's primitive spirits.  She has a great binding technique involving crocheting with wool strips.  Go see...it's way cool.  I have to try this out soon!

I also participated in a lovely linen towel swap with Kendra at The Stone House Primitives.  I received such a lovely towel...handmade by Amy, from Bumblebee Lane.  What a treasure she sent me.  A beautiful green linen towel with the sweetest beeswax bunny smelling of cinnamon!  Heaven!
So cute peeking out of that pocket.  I immediately told my husband that he may never dry his hands on this towel!!  LOL
Amy, it's just beautiful and I love it!!

We've had very warm weather...in the 70s and 80s.  I am holding back from running to the garden stores and planting major gardens...but it's too soon up here in NH.  Gotta keep my head.  April isn't here yet!  I have so many garden dreams spinning right now!
Have a lovely week everyone!

Beautiful hooking Courtney, love the colors you used in your rug, very primitive. What a wonderful exchange, I wouldn't let my husband wipe his hands on that dish towel, why I would not wipe dishes with that adorable dish towel! Should we tempt fate and plant peas? Have a good week, Julie.

Hi Courtney. I just wanted to tell you how beautiful your rug turned out. I love how you used the colors in it. It looks fantastic.

I think that your towel is real cute and I like that little scented wax bunny just in time for Easter. You are so busy yet you take the time to get in touch with other people and that is important.
I hope that you have a great week. Hugs. JB

You are so talented, love the colors and of course partial to the Lab! Haven't been by for a visit in a while, shame on me! Glad to see your weather is warming up nicely too. We are in for an early Spring here in Arkansas, of course that could change!

Good morning Courtney.
Your hooked rug is beautiful...the last couple years I have leaned to hook rugs and it is addicting to say the least although I never can seem to find the time to finish one.

Your swap towel is beautiful - it was a fun swap wasn't it?

Blessings,
Karen

Hi Courntey!

Such a fun post! Your new rug is just darling! I did Karen's crocheted edge on the teapot rug is my most recent post (you commented on that one). Lots of fun to do, but you need really long strips. When finished the edge is nice and secure with no linen showing. It's going to be my new and only way to finish from now on. Wow! You've got a lot going on girl! Have fun!

Hi Courtney! Your dog came out just beautiful! The colors are wonderful. Your rugs are so artistic and unique! I feel a little out of touch with everyone too the last couple of weeks. It has been busy and we have had the flu going through the family. I am sorry you had a crazy week, I hope that the weekend calms down and you have a fun friday night! Delisa :)

Hi Courtney, sure have missed your blogging and hearing how things are with you. I hope that you are well and that you are still hooking. I know that you must be so very busy and life comes to disrupt the comfort that we are used to sometimes. It happens to all of us but then things settles down sooner or later.

I just want you to know that I think of you often and that I miss knowing how you are.
Stay warm and safe,
Hugs,
JB
