Blogoversary, A Giveaway, and the Winter Blahs

I figured I'd start with the upbeat part of the post!  Today is my one year blog anniversary.  I still can't believe that I hit the post button way back then, but I am very glad that I did.  What a pleasure it's been to meet so many creative people, share stories, and above all, have many laughs!

To celebrate, I am having a little giveaway.  Just to let you know, if you want to jump start your project list, post about creating something a couple of weeks in advance of actually knowing what you are going to make.  I know I'm not alone in trying this little technique to get the creative juices flowing...nothing like feeling a bit desperate to get you hooking!  Well, rug hooking, that is...but you know what I mean.

So, I did invent a very simple little stool pad.  And I think it's fitting that I'm having a stool giveaway just after a recent colonoscopy...don't you?  (I'm sorry, I couldn't resist)
My camera doesn't do the colors justice.  The star is a butter mustard surrounded by olde crow.  I have some barn red and more mustard around the edge.  Everything looks blue in this picture.  The stool is kind of a khaki.  It's pretty small, good for a table or shelf, or the floor.
It's easy to enter, just leave a little comment on this post and you're in!
Post on your sidebar, and you're in for two.  Just tell me you're doing that in this comment!
I'll draw on January 31.

I recently found a couple of antique rug hooks out on my antiquing adventures.  It's these little purchases that are keeping me from the big anchor pieces, like a farmhouse table, or a prim cupboard for the dining room.  If I could just get off the penny prim junk food! LOL

But seriously, how could you resist these!  Look at the waxy thread around the one on the right.

I've been spinning up a storm.  I had another yarn sale in the Etsy shop, so I needed to start getting some new stuff ready to list.  The roving I found is just wonderful...springy colors of pinks and blues.  I also spun up some chunky wool in a violet and lime green...sounds weird, but it works.

Other than that, I'm feeling the winter doldrums big time.  I don't know if it's the fact that it is so cold, or that I need to stop eating my weight in cookies, or the recent test (which was fine, btw), or having a stressful career that is now entering into the indoor recess phase, or still being pissed off about my jewelry.  All I know is I'm cranky.  And quiet.  I'm visiting your blogs, really I am!  But, I just find I can't form sentences to actually leave comments.  January doldrums, for sure!

You can't be too cranky, though, when you have a cute corgi!
He's my sweet old guy!

I love your little dog - he's a real sweetie. I'm doing fine on commenting but not having huge amounts of inspiration for posts on my own blog at the moment. It's cold here too but the days are nice and bright which helps a lot.

Congrats on your one year blogging.Such a wonderful giveaway. Learning to hook is on my list to learn to do. I am trying punch needle as of the last few days. Going slow. I would love to be entered into the giveaway. This would be my first hooked piece. Sorry I don't know how to post on my sidebar. Thanks for hosting the giveaway.

I sure can relate!
Been fighting it off myself this past week.
I need some sunshine and warmth! That always makes me feel better.

Hubby goes for a colonoscopy tomorrow.
He is currently whining about the huge jug of stuff he has to drink in about an hour. ;)
I do feel sorry for him though, he is dreading the whole thing so bad.

I would live to be entered into your amazing giveaway.
I love it!

Thanks for the opportunity.
Hugs,
Tam

Great old rug hooks that you found - it's very rare here in Utah to see anything like them! Congrats on your blogiversary - I'd love to win that darling little stool & rug.

Hi Courtney,
I like your sense of humor! ( about the stool)! It took Dave a while to recoup from having a C recently. I think the stress coupled with the sedation throws the body for a loop. You've had a lot to deal with these last few weeks and months. Be extra extra good to yourself!
Congrats on the year blogoversary! Spell check says there's no such word! LOL! I am so glad you hit that publish button! It seems like it was just yesterday we were welcoming you to the fold!!
Here's to many many more years of happy blogging! Now how about a nice glass of Pinot Gr. ( spelling is bad today)!
Big hugs and good energies!

Hi there, So sorry to hear the winter blues have hit you hard. I know what you mean about being quiet when you visit other blogs-sometimes I just read but don't comment. I would love to be in your giveaway as well. Such a sweet thing to do. I with you about winter weight gain-such a drag to be indoors so much. Love your corgi. Just think we may only have three more months of winter-it would be worse living in Alaska.
Have a great evening.

Ach... I used to suffer during the winter months. Even in SC, which has more sunshine than the NE and is tons warmer. From January to at least March I was a monster. I forced myself to get outside more, hoping the light would help a bit, and I do think it may have made a difference.
Congrats on your blogoversary. I echo your sentiments about how much fun blogging is and how great it is to have made so many friends... without even leaving home!
Your darling horse mat received all kinds of oohs and has at my blogger get-together. I am intrigued by your rug hooking. I haven't seen any of it out here - but maybe it's because I haven't been looking!
Please sign me up for you giveaway - and I'll be putting it on my sidebar as well!
I hope your week brings more sunshine and warm temps!

It is the time of year. Inside too much, too many clothes, never having warm feet... just add to the list! LOL

We are using a small blackboard in the kitchen and counting down the winter days! I can't wait for spring! To help me out, I have started all kinds of little bulbs and forced them in the house. And, I am sweet talking my violets to bloom.

Happy Blogaversary! May you have many more, friend!

Hugs,

Matty

Congratulations Courtney on your one year anniversary.
I'd love to have my name in your give away.

You can blame the mid January doledrum on that colonoscopy. They turned things upside down while in there. lol.

I'll have to stay off the computer if I ever want to get my quilt done or I'll forget how to hook. Take care JB

Courtney,
Congrats on your blogaversary...that is awesome! your stool is so cute; you did that? wow! I am so impressed...it's good that you have something to put your winter doldrums into;; now just wrap it up and let it go. Although being a teacher, I totally get it-remember when teaching was fun? I just haven't felt that this year and it is rather disturbing!
Hang in there and it will soon be spring (or here's hoping...)

But, my goodness, look how much you've accomplished with the extra time you've had while not commenting!!
I love your rug covered stool. Congrats on your anniversary! I'm so glad you hit that button too and so glad I found your blog to enjoy.

I hope your duldrums end soon...I think we all get a touch of them in the winter......

Its probably not really appropriate for me to say,'oh,its good to know someone else has the winter slumps too', so i shan't say that, i shall simply say that hopefully 'we two' will snap out of it soon and join all the other non-slumpers, and be back to our normal crafting ways.

And ps...i adore the stool, i just love hooked ruggy type things and i think its just wonderful..
